This year we are organizing the second edition of the summer course "Synergies between Law and Music (II)." It will take place at the Faculty of Law and the Church of the University of Santiago de Compostela on July 16, 17, and 18, 2025.
The 20-hour course will bring together legal experts, musicologists, composers, and musicians. We will explore the phenomenon of interpretation from both legal and musical perspectives. The course will also cover civil, criminal, labor, and administrative regulations affecting musicians and event organizers, in both classical and modern music contexts. We will discuss the new law on music education, the impact of AI on music, plagiarism in musical works, and intellectual property issues related to musical research and composition. Lastly, we will use an instrument—the organ—as a vehicle for interpretative discourse.
Registration is open from May 15 to July 4, with a reduced fee of €40 for students, pensioners, unemployed individuals, and members of the USC community, and €70 for all other participants.
The program and full course information can be found at the following website: Synergies between Law and Music (2nd edition) – Arts and Humanities, Social and Legal Sciences | University of Santiago de Compostela.
This course is a continuation of the one held last year, the results of which can be seen here: The Freedoms of Creation and Interpretation: Synergies between Law and Music.
